Our Leadership Team

God has assembled a remarkable staff at Hand in Hand Recovery.   We are blessed with an incredible team that is dedicated to our mission.

Many  of our programming staff that work directly with our residents have fought the good fight and are now in long-term recovery themselves. This makes our staff very understanding as they have walked the walk and can now talk the talk.  We feel this is very important to this unique industry.

Our team never stops learning. We are involved locally, enrolled in further education, and stay abreast of the latest information in addiction recovery. God is at the forefront of all this team does. We are a Christian organization, and our team leads with their faith in Him who gives us strength.

God saved and changed my life and now I am grateful to be able to share a message of hope and freedom with the still suffering addict.  When He opened the door to join the team at Hand in Hand Recovery, I was so excited to be able to love on these women and share with them how much He loves them and that a new way of life is possible for them too.”  Annie enjoys spending time with her husband and children, reading, writing, and having long conversations over coffee or tea with friends.

Rick Smith
Men's Program Assistant -  Behavioral Health Technician

Rick is originally from Southeast Michigan. He moved to Lake County in 2011. He has two daughters that are his life. He suffered from addiction most of his life in one way or another. It was not until he went to treatment and started working the 12 steps of recovery that he was able to sort through deep-rooted problems and correct behaviors that lead to the chaos he was living in. "Today I can live a life free from drugs and alcohol thanks to my higher power and a solid program of recovery. I have been working in the recovery field for nearly 5 years at multiple treatment centers around the area as a behavioral health technician. It has become a passion of mine to help others live a life free from drugs and alcohol." In his free time Rick loves to spend time with his family whether at the beach, fishing or simply enjoying each other’s company.

Julius Hausgen
Men's Social Enterprise   Leader

I am from a small town 50 miles south of St. Louis, Missouri. Most of my life has involved a struggle with addiction. I was ready to give up all hope when I gave in and prayed for God to help me. He answered my prayers almost immediately. Things weren’t fixed right away as I had imagined, but they began getting better. All I had to do was let go of my self-will and let God help me. He placed me in a faith-based recovery program called Hand in Hand in Eustis, Florida. Hand in Hand is where I learned the tools that are helping me stay clean.

Because of this program, my hard work, and my willingness to learn, I am now employed by the program that gave me hope and saved my life. If all the struggles I have navigated can help someone else not go through them, they were not in vain. God can take what was meant for evil and turn it into something good.

Today I enjoy living life on life’s terms as I walk out the values of GRIT (God, Relationships, Integrity, and Truth). When I am not working, I like to spend my time fishing, watching the sunset, and riding my motorcycle. I genuinely enjoy life today and look forward to what God has for me. Getchasome!
